Ford’s electric lineup is built around reliable AC Level 1 & Level 2 charging and DC fast charging using industry-standard connectors. All Ford EVs sold in North America use the SAE J1772 port for AC charging and CCS for DC fast charging, ensuring broad compatibility with public and home charging infrastructure.
The Mustang Mach-E uses a J1772 connector for AC charging and CCS for DC fast charging. On a Level 2 charger (240V), it can typically add 28–32 miles of range per hour. DC fast charging can restore approximately 10–80% in about 35–45 minutes, depending on battery size and charger output.
Mach-E models use liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery packs. Ford recommends daily charging up to ~80–90% for longevity, reserving 100% charging for long trips.
The F-150 Lightning also uses J1772 (AC) and CCS (DC fast). With its larger battery, Level 2 home charging is strongly recommended. A 48A Level 2 charger can add roughly 20–25 miles of range per hour, while DC fast charging can deliver up to ~150 kW under optimal conditions.
The Lightning’s battery is engineered for high load and towing scenarios. Ford supports bidirectional power features on select configurations, allowing the truck to power tools or even a home during outages. Consistent Level 2 charging is the most practical balance of speed and battery health.
The E-Transit is optimized for fleet and commercial use. It supports J1772 Level 2 charging for overnight depot charging and CCS fast charging for mid-day top-ups. Level 2 charging typically restores a full workday range overnight.
Ford designs E-Transit battery systems for frequent charging cycles. Fleet operators are encouraged to use scheduled Level 2 charging during off-peak hours to reduce costs and extend battery lifespan.
